Six Must-Ride Bike Trails in Naples, FL

July 26, 2018

Whether just you’re visiting Naples or you’re a year-round resident, you should seriously consider taking a day to explore the area on two wheels. Biking around southwest Florida gives you a new perspective and lets you experience the state like never before. Before you hop on your cruiser bikes in Naples, FL and head out, consider checking out the following trails.

Boca Grande Bike Path

Florida’s first rail trail runs the length of the Gulf Coast barrier island and offers ideal spots to stop and catch some rays on the beach or grab a bite at one of the restaurants along the trail. You’ll also pass the Boca Grande Depot, which was recently converted into an upscale shopping center—so be sure to bring your wallet!

Gordon River Greenway

A serene day on the bike awaits during your trip down the Gordon River Greenway. This smooth trail was constructed in 2014 and crosses through a 126-acre natural area in Naples. As you ride along the 12-foot-wide trail, you’ll pass palm trees, pine flatwoods and scrubland. Elevated sections of the trail go over wetlands, where you’re sure to see a myriad of wildlife. Any fishermen can bring their rods and try to reel in some fish right off the trail.

John Yarbrough Linear Park Trail

Look for gators, herons, egrets, eagles and other wildlife during your ride down the John Yarbrough Linear Park Trail. This six-mile trail is surrounded by lush vegetation and runs parallel to the Ten Mile Canal. You’ll cross over a few bridges, where you can stop and take pictures of the beautiful views of the marsh. Whether you ride solo or with a group of friends, you’re sure to enjoy your trip down this trail.

Pine Island Bike Path

Bring the whole family for a 13-mile bike ride down the Pine Island Bike Path! Also known as the Stringfellow Trail, this path begins in St. James City and ends in Bokeelia. While you’re on this concrete trail, you’ll ride through marshes, forests and tidal swampland. Playgrounds, athletic facilities and picnic tables also line parts of the trail, so feel free to stop and enjoy lunch in the great outdoors!

Rich King Memorial Greenway

Travel through quiet residential neighborhoods with views of the canal during your trip down the Rich King Memorial Greenway. This wide, three-mile trail is paved, and perfect for inexperienced riders looking for a leisurely afternoon ride.

Sanibel Island Shared-Use Paths

Get off the mainland for a few hours and explore peaceful Sanibel Island. You can get some fresh air and see beautiful sights while riding along 24 miles of paved shared-use paths on the island. Stop by fun restaurants, shops and museums on your way to the island’s most famous landmark, the Sanibel Lighthouse. Before you get started, stop by the Sanibel Island Chamber of Commerce to pick up maps and additional trail information. After all, you’d hate to get lost while you’re on your cruiser bikes in Naples, FL!
